Andrew Taylor, who had married an Indian woman, had built a log house on the lot now occupied by the downtown Cleveland Post Office. His home was known to the early settlers as “Taylor’s Place” and it soon became a favorite stopping point for travelers because of the many springs in the area.
The legislature formally designated Cleveland as the county seat of Bradley County in January 20, 1838, in honor of Colonel Benjamin Cleveland of North Carolina, a Revolutionary War hero of King’s Mountain. Cleveland reported a population of 400 and was rapidly becoming a popular trading center. Cleveland was incorporated on February 4, 1842.
Ooltewah is a wealthier suburb of Chattanooga. The median household income is among one of the highest in Hamilton County. It has been ranked as one of the best places to live in Tennessee.
The Ooltewah zip code is the site of Ooltewah High School, East Hamilton Middle/High School, Ooltewah Middle School, Hunter Middle School, Ooltewah Elementary School, Snow Hill Elementary School, Wolftever Creek Elementary School, and Wallace A. Smith Elementary School. Ooltewah High School is considered an athletic powerhouse. The football, volleyball, and dance teams are ranked among the best in the state. Notable alumni of Ooltewah High School include Maci Bookout of the MTV show “Teen Mom,” linebacker Jacques Smith of the Atlanta Falcons, and cornerback Sammy Seamster of the Buffalo Bills.
About East Brainerd
The thriving community of East Brainerd is one of the gems of Hamilton County. Home to the famous East Brainerd Community Theater, this is one place where you can find your dream home. The town is the site of East Brainerd Elementary, Westview Elementary, Chattanooga School for Liberal Arts, and East Hamilton Middle/High School, which opened in 2009.

About Red Bank
Red Bank is a City of 11,651 people geographically surrounded by the City of Chattanooga in Hamilton County, Tennessee. Located within ten minutes of downtown Chattanooga it is conveniently located near a large retail center, quality health care facilities, higher education institutions, fine dining, and a metropolitan airport, Interstates 24 and 75 and US 27. Red Bank is the home of the Lions, 2001 TSSAA Class V-A State Football Champions and 350 small businesses. The Community is a center for local churches, civic activities and the Dixie Youth League Baseball Program. The Red Bank Branch of the Chattanooga –Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce serves the business community.
Hixson is surrounded by communities from several different cities and suburbs. It is typically defined as: North of the Rivermont area (a Chattanooga neighborhood); east of the City of Red Bank and U.S. Highway 27; south of the unincorporated area of Middle Valley and Thrasher Pike; and borders the river on the east. Within the Hixson community, there are also smaller communities. These include DuPont, Northgate, Big Ridge, and Valleybrook.
Hixson has several area attractions. The Chickamauga Dam is part of its eastern border along with several marinas along the Tennessee River. Greenway Farms is part of the North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy and offers hiking, canoeing, sports, and a dog park.
About Signal Mountain
The Town of Signal Mountain is located on Walden’s Ridge at the southern end of the Cumberland Plateau. It takes its name from a promontory of land called Signal Point, which overlooks the Tennessee River Gorge and the City of Chattanooga. Signal Mountain is home to a progressive community of 8,363 citizens and is surrounded by natural beauty.
Harrison is a census-designated place in Hamilton County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 7,769 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Harrison Bay State Park, the Hamilton County Landfill, Bear Trace Golf Course, a course designed by Jack Nicklaus, and Skull Island, a recreational area owned by TVA, are all located in Harrison.
Harrison Bay State Park is located in Harrison. It is a 1200 acre park that was developed in the 1930s and covers part of the Chickamauga Lake shoreline. Other recreation located nearby are: Skull Island (Birchwood), Booker T. Washington State Park (Bartlebaugh) and an assortment of Civil War Parks and other tourist attractions in and around Chattanooga.
